Not Recommended Anymore - Canon Rebel Digital Camera Critique
First use was at a Monster Truck show with my son. It took great photos and they did not come out blurry like most other cameras would when shooting moving targets. Pictures got deleted either when the camera ran out of batteries or when the battery got taken out. There are some settings (including panorama) where you cannot change certain settings, such as focus type and image size (this is a BIG problem! 3M for a panorama will NOT look good blown up!). The camera work wonderfully. I took it snorkeling twice and love the pictures and video I got.
This is my fourth digital camera, having Sony and Cannon before buying this one. The camera is definitely durable many functions and options but poor picture quality.
It is simple to use (logical menus really help), takes great pictures, and best of all it is armored. There aren't any parts that stick out to get sand in, and when not in use it protects the lens with a cover. My camera only last for 1 month, I used it for one week in the beach and it took great pictures underwater, then I used it in the pool (1 meter or less deep) and water got in (the lock was secure) I don't recommend this camera to anyone! I did read the reviews before purchasing this and this camera was on another site rated highly for waterproof digital cameras so at only $170 I thought I would give it a shot since it was relatively low priced.
Called the company and a reputable camera store and both said that once the circuit board gets wet, it needs to be replaced at a cost of at least $150. The company also recommends that it be sent in to have the seal replaced annual at the cost to the consumer.
I'm still playing with it and learning all the options but I highly recommend the camera. It does all that it says it does; it is compact and burly. I was delighted at the picture quality.
Overall this camera is awesome, I took it white water rafting and it held up great (I didn't submerge it but it definitely got wet and bumped around). It is a great camera for outdoor lovers who don't want to lug a huge camera around, are disappointed with cellphone pic quality, and want to take pictures everywhere they go.
In short, it's a great little camera. I think you'll be the most satisfied with it if you know some basic concepts of photography (such as providing adequate and appropriate lighting), but this is a solid little camera. If you expect more of the camera, get something bigger and more elaborate but it will cost you. This camera is great, I mean waterproof, and you can't beat it!
I am now about to go and buy a new camera, feeling sorry for my Mum for wasting her money! I bought this for my daughter's birthday. Maybe because of that I leave it on a lot and that's why the battery runs out! This camera is amazing.
